The bookmaker and manufacturer licence numbers are repeated across current pages and the WCGRB holder list includes the company.
There are two important cautions. First, jackpot headlines must be read with the exact product rules and payout-cap table; the customer is betting with Lottoland, not entering the underlying lottery. Second, the current Legal Line contains two different company-registration numbers—one in the introduction and another in the shared footer. BetExpert preserves that conflict and withholds a trust score until the operator reconciles it.
Legal identity and licence
The current site identifies Lottoland South Africa (Pty) Ltd as the operator of lottoland.co.za and displays Western Cape bookmaker licence 10185705 and manufacturer licence 10185706, originally issued on 7 November 2017. The WCGRB holder list includes Lottoland South Africa (Pty) Ltd, and the NGB verified-operators register contains the trading brand.
The registration number is not consistent within the current Legal Line. Its opening paragraph shows 2017/042156/07, while the footer and several other current pages show 2017/270162/07. This may be a content defect or entity-history issue, but BetExpert will not guess. The review records the discrepancy and relies on the matching name, domain, regulator and licence numbers for source-verified publication.
How the lottery product works
Lottoland offers fixed-odds bets whose outcome is tied to underlying lottery draws. When the customer wins, Lottoland is responsible for payment under its betting terms. Product rules explain the applicable prize category, deductions, currency conversion, shared-winner treatment and any jackpot payout cap. This structure is materially different from holding an official lottery ticket.
The current maximum-payout page lists caps by underlying lottery. Some large advertised jackpots have a EUR 50 million cap below a specified threshold and no cap above it, while other products have fixed maximums. Amounts are paid in rand equivalent. Customers should therefore read the rule for the exact draw and bet type instead of assuming the banner jackpot is an unconditional personal payout.
Sports and games
The current promotions page and terms cover sports betting, lottery products and casino-style games. The sportsbook advertises football, rugby, cricket and other markets, while the games area includes slots and quick-result products. The public material confirms availability but not odds competitiveness, market depth, live delay, cash-out reliability or settlement speed.
BetExpert will test the sports product separately from the lottery product. A broad menu does not automatically earn a higher score, and lottery jackpot size is not counted as sportsbook quality.
Registration and FICA
The site is restricted to adults and the registration copy asks customers to confirm that they are not on a self-exclusion scheme. Product help says a customer whose account is not verified must provide proof of identity and proof of address before withdrawing. The terms permit further verification and anti-money-laundering checks.
