Interbet South Africa logo

Interbet is a long-running South African betting platform operated by Interbet International (Pty) Ltd. It combines a conventional sportsbook with horse racing, tote and exchange betting, numbers products and spin games. Its current public terms, FAQ and regulator record provide unusually detailed evidence about identity, FICA, payment timing and betting limits. This review is source-checked but unscored because BetExpert has not opened, funded or withdrawn from an account.

Quick verdict

Interbet has one of the stronger public evidence sets in this part of the market. The company name and Cape Town details are stated in its own terms, the Western Cape licence relationship is explicit, and the National Gambling Board register supplies the current bookmaker licence suffix. The public FAQ gives method-specific withdrawal estimates instead of a single “instant” marketing claim. Its product range is broad, especially for horse-racing customers who want tote and exchange options alongside fixed odds.

The main caution is that the current legal text and FAQ do not always describe verification and payment timing in exactly the same way. The FAQ says South African identity checks are automated at registration and address verification begins at withdrawal, while the general terms retain more document-heavy wording. A real account journey is needed to establish which path applies in practice. Marketing also describes faster local payments than the more conservative two-to-three-day wording in the terms, so BetExpert does not assign a speed score yet.

Legal identity and licence

The current terms identify Interbet International (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2000/011570/07, at 304 Buitenkloof Studios, Cape Town. Interbet states that it holds bookmaker and manufacturer licences issued by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. The current NGB verified-operators register matches the entity and trading name to Western Cape bookmaker licence 10083472-023.

This establishes a traceable South African bookmaker relationship for the consumer domain. It does not mean every product has been independently certified by BetExpert, and it does not prove service quality. The manufacturer-licence number is not reproduced in the captured public terms, so the profile records the numbered bookmaker licence and describes the manufacturer status only as the operator presents it.

Registration and FICA

The FAQ says registration collects personal details including a South African ID or passport number. For South African customers, Interbet says identity is checked automatically at registration and address details are checked when a withdrawal is initiated. If automated checks fail, the operator can request identity, address and bank documents. The same FAQ states that withdrawal is unavailable until verification is complete.

The general terms retain a more traditional list: certified identity, proof of residence and a bank statement. This is not necessarily contradictory—automated verification can fall back to documents—but it means a hands-on test must record the actual prompts, the age of documents accepted, rejection reasons and completion time. The terms also prohibit third-party payments, while the FAQ says withdrawal is made to the account from which the deposit was received.

Sportsbook, racing and other products

Interbet publishes pre-match and in-play sports, esports, fixed-odds horse racing, tote pools, soccer pools, numbers betting, a betting exchange and spin games. Its public fees-and-limits table is a useful differentiator: it separates minimum stakes and maximum-win rules by product instead of presenting one site-wide figure.

Examples include a R1 minimum stake on soccer and fixed-odds sport or esports singles, and R5 on horseracing singles. Maximum wins vary materially by market and bet construction, with discretion and separate racing levies. These published figures should be treated as ceilings, not promises that every requested stake will be accepted. A proper product test still needs price comparisons, bet placement, live delay, cash-out, voids, settlement, result corrections and account-level limit behaviour.

Deposits and withdrawals

Publicly listed funding routes include EFT, Visa and Mastercard, bank deposits and several voucher brands. The terms say transactions use South African rand. Voucher deposits have a published maximum daily limit, and ordinary deposits may be subject to play-through before withdrawal. These conditions matter because a deposit is not always immediately withdrawable even if no promotion is claimed.

The minimum withdrawal is R100. Interbet’s current FAQ says automated local payments may take two to three hours after verification, first withdrawals 24–48 hours, card withdrawals two to three business days and global payments one to three business days. The general terms use the more conservative statement that payments should reflect within two to three days. BetExpert records the method-dependent range and will not label withdrawals “instant” until a funded test separates internal approval from bank delivery.

Current sports welcome offer

The current promotions page advertises a 100% first-deposit Sport Bonus up to R2,000. Detailed terms state a R5 minimum, require the customer to opt in before making the first deposit, and limit the promotion to an eligible, compliant account. The bonus is for qualifying sports and racing bets rather than casino or crash games.

To convert bonus winnings to cash, the terms require turnover equal to five times the bonus amount. Qualifying selections must be at odds of at least 2.00, and only the first selection placed on each event counts. The offer expires after seven days. Because the public headline and the captured material conditions align, BetExpert can publish this offer as a normalized record with a weekly recheck. It should not be described as R2,000 cash: it is a conditional bonus balance.

Support and safer gambling

Interbet lists live chat, [email protected] and telephone 021 137 8274. It also publishes a responsible-gambling page with self-exclusion procedures and the national counselling route. Account navigation includes deposit limits and responsible-gambling information, but ease of use and enforcement still need testing.

BetExpert will time an ordinary support question and a safer-gambling request separately. A prominent help link is positive evidence of availability, not proof that a limit takes effect immediately or that marketing stops after exclusion.
